This is a fairly easy question, but How would the winner, win?

  1. The winner would win by making the walrus bleed to death, or by holding it under water until it drowns.

  2. A fully grown male walrus will trample and gore a fully grown male polar bear easily if the bear insists on irritating him by trying to nibble on his neck. It has a 4:1 weight advantage, has a tough 3" blubber hide that is inpregnable by the bear's claws or teeth and has lethal tusks than can puncture the bear with the momentum with which they are swung. You would think a carnivore will win a fight with a herbivore but the size mismatch does not make it an easy call each time. The walrus also has the advantage if the fight takes place in the sea.

BTW, there was an "animal face off" episode on this possible match-up and the result confirmed the above hypothesis.

  3. Polar Bears live on seals. They will take a Walrus if they can but a walrus has large tusks with which to defend itself. Polar bears often prowl around the edges of a walrus colony at certain times of the year looking to take a a pup. A polar bear has even been known to catch small whales when they are trapped when the ice closes up leaving a very restricted breathing hole. It would kill a walrus by biting it but walruses come on to a beach to give birth and as soon as the sea freezes the bears are out on the ice many miles from land
