The bears could care less because they are fully aquatic and are amazing swimmers. There was a case I read about during WWII where sailors on a ship going into Murmask in the Russian arctic observed a polar bear hunting fish and seals over a hundred miles from the nearest land or ice. Point is that the whole polar bear thing is one of the most obvious political distortion of facts ever published anywhere. This one piece alone if pursued in court could put Gore in prison for at least 30 years hard time.

Al Gore's assertion that global warming will kill off the polar bears was challenged in a court action in UK taken out against the Department of Education for showing An inconvenient truth in schools. The claim was that the film was politically biased and scientifically inaccurate.

The scientific spokesman for the department of education was forced to admit that there was no scientific evidence for the claim, and Al Gore had to admit that he misread a scientific paper.

The fact is that the polar bear population has been increasing and it is the highest since records have been kept.

During the medieval warm period (900 - 1200 AD) temperatures were warmer than today and there were agricultural communities living on Greenland, the polar bears didn't die out then.

The Uk department of education has been taken to the high court by a father claiming that Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush.

The presiding Justice Burton will make a final ruling within a week but has already stated that the film does promote partisan political views. This is resulting in the government education system having to amend their Guidence Notes to make clear that:

1.) The film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.

2.) If teachers present the film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1966 and guilty of political indoctrination.

3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

The eleven inaccuracies are:

1. The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

2. The film suggests evidence from ice cores covering the last 650,000 years proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases. The court found that the film was misleading due to the fact that the actual evidence from those ice cores demonstrate that the CO2 rises actually followed temperature increases by 800 to 2000 years and so could not have been causative.

3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.



4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr. Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.



8. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

9. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

10. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.



11. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government is unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Global warming causes the ice caps to melt, causing polar bears to drown. They can swim, but not for 3 days straight. I'm not sure about the food source thing, but i'm pretty sure that it's the same reason.

global warming increases the temp. at the poles. this sudden rise in temp affects the polar bears and their surroundings. they are not able to adapt to such changes in their surroundings and many of them die.

due to increase in temp, the vegetation is also affected and the plants which grow in cold temp decrease in number.

also, the small aquatic animals that the polar bears eat die.

They live on the ice, so if the ice is melting then its home is slowly fading away. As for the food source, the same deal, they hunt seals and seals will have the same problem so will move to new ground. This will cause the polar bears to follow which culd disrupt the yearly breeding cycle as they struggle to find food.

And there really isn’t enough information on the 15 other population to determine if the numbers are faring with climate change.

It doesn't.  The Warmers insist that the Polar Bear is threatened and use sleezy propaganda such as the 'poor' polar bear stranded on a piece of ice photo to attempt to fool people...... especially children.... into thinking that the bears are threatened.  According to the Warmers, the photo depicted a Polar Bear stranded many miles away from land and suggested that the 'poor' thing would drown....... due of course to ..... you guessed it...... Global warming.  The person who actually took the photo was contacted and stated that the piece of ice and bear were actually a very short distance from shore and that the bear was in no danger.

This was simply one more example of the desperation of the Warmers to sell the hoax called 'Man-did-it' global warming!
