  4. I don't know of any graph, but Polar bears evolved around

    200.000 years ago, they survived everything that was "thrown" at them over that time, including the last inter-glacial period when temperatures were at least 5 deg c. warmer than today, and, it is believed, there was no Arctic ice-cap. It is estimated that there are about 25,000 polar bears alive today.
