  1. No. But I don't believe whatever is supposed to occur is going to happen in 2012.  It's just not backed by any hard evidence.  Oh, sure, it's being backed by an ancient calender, a couple of mystics, and other interpretations made on documents that show zip.

However, a polar shift is not "nothing".  It's dangerous and will shift where the poles of earth are, change how much solar radiation gets into the atmosphere, and change where the radiation enters earth.

  2. Yes, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. And I don't know when the next polar shift will be but it roughly takes about 10,000 years for the magnetic poles of the earth to flip. It takes so much time that we will be able to recalibrate instruments and make sure everything is okay. It wont really effect anything, and if it does we will be able to prepare for it.

And if something does happen in 2012 i will run around town naked singing, "OH ITS WAFFLE TIME, ITS WAFFLE TIME. WONT YOU HAVE SOME WAFFLES OF MINE?" Thats how confident I am.

  3. Not only free, but correct.  Good for you!
