Polaris trail boss 250 crank case engine oil?

Question

While rebuilding my 1986 Trail boss 250 engine (Crank bearings gone) I noted a fair bit of oil (looked like injector oil) in the bottom of the engine. Before I start the engine for the first time, should I add oil to the crank case? And if so, how much?
