for some reason, the TLA-04011C Polaroid 40" LCD TV will only allow the digital audio output to work on just ONE of their 9 input sources. i'm trying to hook my TV up so that the audio from ANY of these devices will come out of my home theater system. i can hook some audio RCA cables up to the "Audio Out" jack on the back of the TV, and to the "Audio In" on the home theater and i am able to achieve this effect. but i want to have Dolby 5.1 sound on all of my devices. But when i hook the digital coaxial cable up to the "digital out" on the TV, and the "digital in" on the audio receiver, i am only able to hear the audio if i switch to the "TV" input on the TV. for reference, the inputs are as follows:
TV (Cable)
Aux 1 (RCA)
Aux 2 (RCA)
S-Video
Component 1
Component 2
HDMI 1
HDMI 2
VGA
this is a built in setting on the TV, as it will only allow me to enable "dolby digital" on the on-screen menu when i'm in "TV" mode
i would like to have dolby digital playback from my Xbox 360, Wii, and my cable box, yet since i'm unable to change the audio setting to "dolby digital" from any mode but "TV" it appears as if i'm out of luck. this just doesn't make sense to me especially since i'm able to achieve the desired effect (although not dolby 5.1 surround) via the regular old RCA audio out jacks on the TV
so i guess my question is; am i missing something? or am i SOL? is there a solution to this problem at all? (besides buying a new TV of course)
hopefully this makes sense to someone. i'm sorry for all of the detail, but i just want to make sure i covered all the bases
thanks!
