Pole Reversal in 2012?

I have recently been hearing a lot about the possibility of a pole reversal. A lot of sources (legitimacy debatable) have stated that this is IN FACT happening. I am wondering, are people only saying this is happening in 2012 to coincide with all the predictions of that year being man's final hour or is there scientific fact that this is indeed happening?

Anyone know anything about this?

We are due for another pole switch but I see no scientific facts that say its going ot happen in 2012 rather than any other year.

Fear not for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like  the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed by Terence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called "the abomination that causes desolation" that will be set up in the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies when the antichrist is imbued with the power of satan himself. the poles are switching, but only magnetically. basically, all this will do is reverse our compasses. weather or not in 2012, i don't know, but it seems that its the least of our worries

The magnetic poles do end up switching periodically, but VERY slowly.  Certainly not by 2012 :P  As for 2012 supposedly being the final year, keep in mind that according to some of Nostradamus's predictions, we could have been wiped out in 1988.

Are you talking about a magnetic reversal or "pole shift", magnetic reversal is when magnetic north and south switch places, there is no evidence that shows this causes any change on earth, however, "pole shift" is really the same idea as precession of the equinoxes, which does complete its cycle in 2012, Dec 21 and if it indeed happens over a short period, would cause major catastrophes. However these poles are said to slowly change over thousands of years, not a rapid shift in poles, although this is all debateable. Check out this site, has some good videos on theories relating to 2012. If you ask me something big will happen to change humanity over the next 4 years, whether its caused by a pole shift I dont know, but I do believe billions of people will die.

The magnetic poles (NOT the rotational poles) are showing signs of weakening and are wandering faster than they used to. This is thought to be a sign that another magnetic pole reversal is approaching. These happen at irregular intervals ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years. This is a slow process, though, that will play out over the next few thousand years. Any significance of the year 2012 in the process is mere fantasy.

In response to what someone said about Nostradamus, he predicts the world will end nearly 2000 years from now, not in 1998.

But, when it comes down to it none of us know when the world will end. Whether you follow Abrahamic prophecies of the world's end, or if you are an atheist, either way the end of the world is unknown, but both science and Abrahamic religions do agree the world will indeed end one day one way or another.

I don't think anyone knows exactly when this reversal in polarity will occur. But, it should occur. Maybe in 2012, but since it is beleived to happen gradually, so I doubt itll happen all in 2012.

don't think so. it does happen, but extremely slowly - not in 4 years for sure, more like thousands! people have been predicting the end of the world before we'd even learned how to smash coconuts with rocks, and yet here we are, surviving still.  and anyway, if armageddon really was scheduled for 2012, i'd much prefer to live in blissful ignorance.
