Poles eyeing top slot in Pool F of 2012 CEV Men’s Champions League
Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow is set to appear in the last match of League Round of 2012 CEV Champions League on Wednesday, January 18.
The city of Lodz in Poland will host the match in the evening. Poles are scheduled to meet Budvanska Rivijera Budva of Montenegro. Polish Belchatow has already secured a slot in the Playoffs 12 but still it has tough competition with Tours VB of France for
the top position in Pool F.
Currently, Poland is second in the group while Tours VB is ranked No. 1. Both teams have similar record of 4-1 in last five matches but French team earned more points and occupied the top slot.
All eyes are set on the next two matches, where Poland will meet Montenegro and the French team will cross its ways with Slovenian ACH Volley Ljubljana. Poland wants to advance to the Playoffs 12 as the first-ranked team of the group and seem totally shaped
up to clinch success against Montenegrin team.
However, the victory alone would be not enough to help Poles to go on top. They will have to wait for the result of Tours VB’s match. The victory or defeat of French team will have great impact on Poland’s position in the pool. If Poland wins the match and
Tours VB loses on the other hand, Belchatow will definitely surpass the French. Otherwise, Poland has no chances to climb up the top position in Pool F.
PGE Skra Belchatow will have the competitive edge of playing in the presence of passionate fans. It is likely that huge number of home supporters will show up at the sports arena, in order to witness the performance of their team.
The backing up of crowd will boost the energy of local players and they will easily overcome the guest team. The President of Polish side, Konrad Piechocki said that he would like to see more than 9,000 fans in the match.
Considering the current level of the team and advantage of the familiar conditions, Belchatow is tipped to win the match. However, the hard work will be the key of success for them.
Speaking of the upcoming contest, the Head Coach of PGE Skra Jacek Nawrocki stated, “We are the strong favourites but we must not underestimate our opponents. We just have to do our best. The crowd will be a great motivation for us. The people will play
together with us, play for the win. Their satisfaction will be for us the best reward, equal to the motivation to grasp 3 points. We believe it may be enough to overcome TOURS VB. The French team and ACH Volley LJUBLJANA are pretty equal and I am convinced
that the Slovenian champion may beat TOURS VB.”
Let’s wait and see if Slovenia team beats Tours VB and creates the opportunity for Belchatow to go on top.
