Poliana Okimoto snares Women’s 800m freestyle gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Poliana Okimoto of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM snared gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on first day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday, August 20.
Okimoto demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the sixteen-lap freestyle discipline as she outperformed her opponents for the title of the discipline. She showed no leniency to her opponents and made her way to the finishing end for the crown of the race.
With her unstoppable efforts, she remained considerably ahead of her opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 8 minutes and 40.15 seconds.
The champion was followed by Ana Marcela de Jesus da Cunha of UNISANTA, who stayed 2.04 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 8 minutes and 42.19 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Bianca Giacon Avella of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who was 0.67 seconds slower and occupied bronze medal of the race by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 42.86 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Avella’s teammate, Jessica Egashira Moretti, who stayed nearly nine seconds slower from securing bronze medal of the discipline and touched the wall with a timing of 8 minutes and 52.00 seconds.
Moretti was followed by Carolina Bilich of FIAT/MINAS, who was 0.26 seconds slower and finished fifth in the race by reporting an effort of 8 minutes and 52.26 seconds.
Bilich was chased by Isabelle Franca Longo of UNISANTA, who suffered a loss of nearly two body lengths and earned sixth best place of the race by producing a time of 8 minutes and 54.55 seconds.
Longo was traced by Helena B R de Amorim of BFR, who was 2.41 seconds slower and settled on the finishing blockade as seventh fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 56.96 seconds.
Similarly, Amorim was chased by Bruna Veronez Primati of PAINEIRAS, who ended her swim in eighth place by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 57.56 seconds.
Furthermore, Okimoto expressed happiness over her victory and received medal for her laudable effort after the event.
