Police, FBI continue to investigate spying allegations against New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis - NFL News
After a week of investigation by the Louisiana Police Department on New Orleans Saints general manager, Mickey Loomis’ alleged use of an electronic device to listen in on communications being made by opposition teams, the Police are ready to review the evidence
by the end of the week.
According to Steve Wyche of NFL.com police superintendent Mike Edmondson will review all evidence gathered to determine whether a case can be formed.
Both the Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been conducting a joint investigation over the allegations.
Edmondson though said that nothing concrete has yet been found out of the investigations.
"These are still allegations at this point,"
Loomis is alleged to have used a listening device from 2002-04 from his suite at the Mercedes-Benz stadium to listen in to play calling and tactics being used by opposition coaches during the New Orleans Saints home games.
The general manager has vehemently denied all allegations which first surfaced after an investigative report by
ESPN.
Speaking at a press conference last Thursday, the Saints general manager said.
"Regarding the eavesdropping, in my 28 or 29 years I have never listened to an opposing teams communications. I have never asked for the capability to listen to an opposing team’s communications. I have never inquired to as to the possibility of listening
in on an opposing team's communications and I have never been aware of any capability to listen in on an opposing team's communications at the Superdome or any NFL stadium."
Loomis has also welcomed the Police investigation and said that he will cooperate completely with the authorities.
This is not the only problem Loomis and the Saints have had to face in the current offseason.
The general manager has been suspended by the National Football League (NFL) for eight games after it was revealed that the Saints defensive unit was involved in taking bounties for injuring opposition players.
As of now the allegations are not backed up by any concrete evidence and the Police after conducting its review has to decide whether to continue its investigations or hand it over to the district attorney.
The Police can also end all investigations due to a lack of evidence.
More news over this latest development is expected in the coming days.
