Question:

Police Background Investigators

I'm in backgrounds for a police department in CA. I wonder what BI's opinions are. I have no criminal record, no driving tickets, no drugs, not an alcoholic. However, I had to quit a job without notice because a girl I worked with were dating and she turned crazy. We worked in different buildings when we started dating but one building closed we ended up in the same building. How bad does that hurt me if any?

  1. it wont hurt you. be honest and explain the situation, avoid saying "she turned crazy" simply explain her actions that made you feel uncomfortable. believe me when i say that your department will be looking at other candidates with worse things in their packet than quiting a job without notice. stay safe and good luck!

  2. It doesn't.  Just be honest and truthful with your Officer Investigation Officer (That's what they are called local to me) and if your background is as clean as you say, you should have no problems.  Something else to note, they do want to know if you EVER used drugs, car accidents, if you have filed and payed your taxes, and more importantly your credit score.  These are all determining factors.

Do not lie about the job and the no notice, they WILL find out and then it can become a "Character issue" because you lied to them.
