Question:

Police Officer out of hand?

Me and my friends went into a random apartment complex and used their swimming pool. I threw a plant at my friend from the pool "garden" and a cop was right behind him. The cop started yelling: What the FFFF are you doing? Get the FFFF out of the pool. This went on for a bit. I know what we did was wrong, but can the officer get in trouble from using foul language towards us? We responded with yes and no's, politely. What could I have done?

  1. well they can swear but they are told not to. it makes the department look bad if they cuss at every person they contact.

  2. Nope.  It's very difficult to get a police officer in any kind of substantive trouble for using foul language.  Don't bother.  Just chalk it up as the officer having slightly overreacted to the situation and maybe the officer was at the end of a long day.  Either which way, just ignore it and move on.

  3. Cops always talk like that. You should get used to it since you're a self-admitted criminal. Trespassing and vandalism is no way to go through life son. Have some self-respect.

  4. say the cop was starring at all the little girls bakinis all day while groping himself

  5. Police officer was out of hand but unfortunately us little people can't do anything to get them in trouble. If you did have a video of it you could embarrass the police station by sending it to the news station but that's it.

I hate how some police officers are always on a power trip.

  6. While the officer's words may have been less than polite, this is sometimes required to ensure compliance from a person or multiple persons.  It sounds like the officer was alone.  If this were the case, how compliant would you have been if he/she would have softly said "Boys and girls, please get out of the pool"?  10 officers may have handled the situation 10 different ways.  This is the way that the officer in question chose to handle it.  As far as whether or not the officer could be in trouble will depend on if his/her department has any policies regarding language usage.

  7. get their batch number and report it next time...always gd to take video with your phone too.

  8. You're kidding, right? You trespass onto private property, do some minor vandalism and are upset that the Officer used swear words when he confronted you about it!?

Contrary to the Yahoo "Attorneys" and "experts" that have answered, you could complain to the Dept.

But let's be real, you'll get the same response I gave your question.

  9. Foul language is as ubiquitous as pornography.Remember that these are in fact only words and cannot harm you-they are intended to distract, particularly when uttered by a public official who has a deadly weapon at his side and can legally shoot you at his discretion and produce any number of evidential results after the fact which can be supported in a court of law by way of credibility.

  10. Well, chalk it up to a lesson learned. You acted like idiots, and you got treated like idiots. I don't feel sorry for you.

  11. No he can't.  You're more than a bit oversensitive.  Gosh darn that mean ole police man for not being all super polite to criminals!

By the way, since when is using the f word a crime?  What law was he breaking?

  12. you shouldn't have "found a pool at random apartment complex"...i'm betting you could have been busted for trespassing...next you shouldn't have thrown anything at your friend, and since it was a plant, you could have been looking at vandalism, too. So now you think the officer should get in trouble for bad language? And, of course you were polite---after you'd been caught. Sounds like you got off lucky if all you got was a few cuss words.

Forget the past and think about the NEXT time you feel like being inconsiderate. Think about how you treat others (and their property) and think about whether your actions are those of a spoiled brat or of a man. The biggest lesson about your "cop interaction" --and what  you fail to grasp-- is the sooner you learn to take responsibility for your own actions, the sooner you'll start becoming  a man. And don't let your friends goad you into doing or saying anything that will embarrass you, or cause you to get cussed out, by cops or anyone else.

  13. Stop whining about it. You were trespassing (and probably being loud and obnoxious). He could of put you in his squad car.

  14. Nothing. You're lucky you didn't get your @ss hauled to the station for trespassing.

If you want to be treated with respect don't act like an idiot.

  15. Yes there not supose to do that and they are like normal people and can get in trouble for yelling as people while on duty.

Just like anyone else they can get out of hand.

I have seen 40 year olds stomp there feet and act like little boys.

  16. And you think the cop was the one out of hand?  LOL.  The nerve of some kids.

  17. You break the law and have the nerve to whine about the officer's language?  Seriously?  Wow, stop pointing at others and point at yourself for a change. Oh, and stop trespassing.

  18. Well for starters you can NOT sneak into other peoples pools & property, you can NOT use other peoples things like plants to vandalize & you can realize that the cop wasn't just a cop over-reacting, it was probably HIS pool area & you were the ones "out of hand" invading, vandalizing & obviously making a scene which was disturbing people. Grow up & use your own things to s***w with! (And don't go in the pool until an hour after you eat or you'll blow up & die!)

BTW Nadya, You must be 12 years old if you think like that. You need to grow up & learn what "respect" means!

Adding details to your added details: I agree with the other poster who said Get over it! I'm glad you're admitting what you did was wrong & the least you could have done was answer him "politely" as you said. But the question is would you do it again? Would you realize what you did was rude & inconsiderate & THAT'S why you were yelled at (innapropriately or not) & grow up? Or will you skip that part & go directly to s***w-up?
