Police Oral Interview: Did I Bomb?

I just had an interview for a local police department. These are the Q&A's I was asked and gave. How do you think I did? 1.Why should we hire you? I feel that I should be hired for this position, because between school and my present job, I have a good understanding of what is required, and I feel that my hard work and determination will help me be an asset to the department. 2.Have you put any thought into what the job requires from you? I have thought about the fact that I would be working long hours, or the possibility of working long hours, and I have thought about that nothing is promised and there is a chance I may be hurt or killed on duty, and I have also thought about the added stress that would be on my family, but how we would still live our normal lives and would not let these thoughts affect me. 3.Describe your ability to do this job. I feel I would be able to do this job with little or no supervision, whether I was by myslf or w/ a partner, the task at hand get don

No you did not bomb the interview I'd hire you. but you could have worded you answers differently. other than that you did pretty good. good luck

First answer was good.  The other 2 were lackluster.  Guess it depends on how bad they need people.

Who is Don? And why are telling your interviewer you are out to get him? Beside that I think you do swell. But you didn't tell them if you like Donuts so you may get disqualified for that.

Your answers aren't bad, wouldn't say you bombed based on them.

They also paid as much attention to how you carried yourself and nonverbal as they did the answers.

Answer #1 - I would have focused on honesty and integrity - honestly - what understanding do you have of the job - you've never done it.

Answer #2 - it's not about the long hours - its commitment and the the kind of hours worked.

Answer #3 - Perhaps I would have worded as mature or task orientated.  

Your answers are not bad - but not very good.  Sometimes you can package it better and say the same thing.  Talk to someone first next time or read up a bit - you'll get it next time.
