  1. Most UK police do not use scrambled signals. Most scanners can pick up the police radio, depends on the frequency used and if that scanner gets the police frequency. There are hobbyists that list the local frequencies. Most are FM so that the signal does not travel real far. If you are in Birmingham you aren't going to get London.

I don't know UK laws on this but in the US you can listen all you want, you just cannot act on what you hear or make money from it.

Check your local scanner hobbyist sites. Any country that has tons of people who spot buses and trains has to have a bunch of scanners.

  2. Yes.

  3. It's surprising what you can pick up by accident lol

  4. Nope, They use a digital tetra system which cannot be hacked :(

  5. All UK Police now used radios with a system which scrambles signals to prevent criminals listening to them. Don't waste your money, a scanner wont work.

  6. most uk police forces now use the digital tetra system

you cannot pick this up on a scanner

  7. I'm not sure because I am from the USA, but here most police radio systems have digital encryption so they can use the same frequencies and only they can listen to it, but there are occasionally some that can be listened to. Why are you saying you wouldn't do it? It's not illegal or bad or anything, my dad listens to things like that all the time just for fun.

  8. no scanners dont work as the police now use Airwaves, a digitally encrypted system.  The only way you can listen is by stealing a terminal, but then they can remotely disable a stolen or lost terminal
