Police check or clearance in Western Australia for New Zealanders?

Am a kiwi in Sydney moving to Western Australia for work; Cant find any info on whether or not WA police will process an application for police clearance from a foreigner (been in Australia 2 weeks). Sydney cops tell me you have to be living here for 3 months before can get federal police certificate/clearance, but a WA resident can get it in 5 days in WA - need to know if that also applies to kiwis...who have only been in WA 5 minutes. Anyone out there got Police cert in WA whos not an aussie?

Cops no longer do the normal police clearance, you now apply at a post office.
