Police dogs UK, alsatians for hunting human scent and spaniels etc. for drugs?

Is that the case? Alsatians aren't really used to detect drugs are they? Just to hunt people down? I'm pretty sure but anyone know for certain?

No in the the UK Spaniels and Alsatians are used as Sniffer Dogs, for Drugs and tracking peoples scent. And Alsatians are used as Hunters, to track people down and if necessary bring them down.

German Shepherds are normally for human scent and these are known as 'Snappers'. Spaniels and retrievers are used as 'sniffers' to detect drugs and explosives etc.
