Question:

Police narcotics investigations?

I am wondering if someone was being investigated on for the selling of illegal substances and was arrested and charged for it...is it possible that while that person is out on bond and awaiting/preparing for trial the investigation can continue? Can the police continue the investigation to bring forth new charges or to make sure the charges stick...i.e. more evidence?

  1. If they continued, they would be arrested on a second set of charges and an entirely new trial would come from it.

  2. usually if they have let you bond, you are let out PFI or pending further investigation.  They have to wait on lab results, prosecutors have to put evidence in front of a grand jury and you have to be indicted, and then be officially charged.  If you have charged, then they will pursue every avenue possible to them to make sure you don't win on a technicality.
