  1. Theres a good chance that the township/state you are interested in has a website. instead of banking on what people here say, go check it out for yourself! Cheers!

PS, there are a lot of departments that have age requirements, despite what marine said...Ive been studying criminology for three years in college

  2. You have two choices I recommend number 2

1.Um you have to be racist and white then youll be ready.

2.Or you can be fair judgement and do things properley and be of any race

  3. i turned 35 in june an just got hired by a PD in arizona.  i actually start the academy on Aug. 11th.

like the other guy said, i think being a little older, mature, grown up what ever really made me a more attractive canidate.

never give up on a dream, i almost did and if i had, i'd still be going to a job a hate.

  4. age does not matter there is no age requirement for law enforcement it would be considered discrimination

  5. It's next to impossible...

  6. Unfortunately, most departments in this area have an age requirement of 21 to 35 y/o.  This is in accordance with state and Federal guidelines.

Some small departments will take someone over the age of 35, but most don't pay well.

If you have college, at least an Associate degree, you will have a better chance of getting one of the available jobs.

For some idea of requirements go to:

  7. Just apply to a local department.

Typical requirements are, decent driving history, decent credit, no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, minimal or no drug use. Stable work history and quite a few departments now require 2 year college degrees. However, many still don't.

Mid thirties is not considered "this late in the game". Departments in my area actively recruit 30-40 year olds. If you are a bit older, you will probably be more mature, will make better choices, ect. Plus you still have 20-25 years before retirement, so they can still get plenty of service out of you.

Just call a local department in your area that is hiring and ask to speak with a recruiter or the person in charge of hiring and see what they have to say.

  8. First off, if you are planning for federal law enforcement, the clock is ticking because you would have to be appointed before your 37th birthday (37+20)=57=maximum age for retirement.  Try the local, or state and look at their requirements; lots of agencies require at least a 2 year degree, good health and no serious background problems.  Other than that you are good to go.

  9. You can't be honest and care about your fellow man, just let everything you see slide.
