Police report confirms Jacksonville Jaguars’ DT Terrance Knighton involved in club fight -NFL News
As it had been being feared that nothing good was awaiting Jacksonville Jaguars’ managers from the injury front of the defensive tackle, Terrance Knighton, a police report confirmed the player’s involvement in a fight at the Pure Nightclub in Jacksonville,
which resulted in serious injury to his eye.
Despite that Jaguars kept a mum over the issue it was being guessed by almost quarters that the player had some unpleasant experience at the club.
Only information around the so called ‘incident’ which caused the player the eye injury, which required him a surgery, had come from his tweets that he was at the Pure Nightclub.
No details had emerged about the incident since then, but the player’s mother, Rochelle Knighton, confirmed his son was in his good spirits.
The sketchy details from his family and team more fed the fears about the player’s involvement in some sort of fight at the club.
Now police confirmed that the player and a friend were involved in a fight at the club, which resulted in a number of cuts on his eye and back.
So far so lucky for the player that police has not arrested him except for releasing the report of the incident, which also claimed that Knighton and his friend had threatened to ‘shoot people’ at the club.
He was eventually kicked out of the club, probably by the managers. Despite that the police did not make the arrest, a number of media outlets who have viewed content of the report claim that the player still faces risk of a disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the team management has also released a statement now saying that they are aware of the incident and have been handling the matter internally.
The statement reads:
"We are aware of the incident report regarding Terrance Knighton. We hold all of our players to a high standard of behaviour, as does the National Football League. We're concerned about this matter, and it is being handled internally. We'll have no further
comment at this time."
As hinted by the managers in the statement, the player can also face some sort of disciplinary action from the league office.
It remains unclear what sort of measures that the team has been planning to take to penalise the player or else seek settlement of the issue through any other alternative route.
In earlier statement, the team said to be gathering information around the incident, which leaves it certain that they were aware of the player involvement in the fight but were waiting for police’s move on it first.
Jaguars’ new owner, Shahid Khan, has spoken of his ambitions of making the team a role model off the field and it will be seen how hard he comes on Knighton over the alleged club’s incident.
