Police set to wrap up investigations into Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall - NFL News
Chicago Bears signing of wide receiver, Brandon Marshall was met with much excitement in the Windy City but his big move to the franchise was marred after charges were brought against the Pro-Bowler by a woman in New York City who alleged that Marshall had
punched her in the face at a nightclub.
This occurred just a few days before the Bears officially announced the signing of Marshall who became new general manager, Phil Emery’s first major signing.
According to ESPN.com who citing sources have revealed on Monday that the New York Police Department (NYPD) are wrapping up their investigations into the matter and it is likely that no charges will be brought against Marshall due to lack of evidence.
Christin Myles who filed the case against the wide receiver had claimed that Marshall had hit her in the face outside a New York nightclub after a fracas.
The wide receiver though had always denied the allegations and also claimed that his wife was the victim in the incident.
Speaking in a radio interview recently, Marshall remained confident that he would be cleared of all charges by the court.
"The situation in New York, it's unfortunate. You never want to see anyone get hurt, but just the allegation of me balling my fist up and hitting a woman is just a lie. When the judicial system takes its course I'm very confident I will be cleared of any
wrongdoing.”
Adding further he said.
"My wife was the victim in this situation."
Marshall has a history of being involved in off-the-field incidents from the first year he was drafted in the National Football League (NFL).
However, the wide receiver has not let problems effect his game and he remains one of the best receivers in the league.
Marshall has been voted to the Pro-Bowl three times in his career and was also named the Pro-Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) in this year’s game.
Chicago Bears will hope that their new receiver remains out of trouble throughout his time at the franchise and will play a big role in the upcoming season as the Bears look to get back into the playoffs.
