  1. not to clear with the question here? but if it states that you have that coverage then  you got it, usually on  declaration page that you recieve it should tell you how much you are paying for that coverage in the total premium for six months or a year...

if you didnt get that coverage then you must of signed a umd rejection form of some sort...check yo papers!!!... hope i helped!!

  2. MSAD's answer is correct.  Also, in most states, your Underinsured coverage is offset by what the tortfeasor paid.  Meaning, if you have $100k UIM coverage, and the other party pays out $20k(not necessarily always the policy limit either), then you are only entitled to the offset of $80k, not the entire $100k.   Discuss this with your agent if you feel your coverage is inadequate.

  3. If you have purchased these coverages -- then your policy states what they cover.

Uninsured motorist coverage - provides coverage when a vehicle causes an accident and that vehicle does not have a valid insurance policy. Your UM coverage will kick in to pay what the other guys insurance would have (had he had insurance).

Under-Insured motorist coverage - pays when the other guy causes an accident and has insurance but your injuries/damages are so bad, he does not have enough insurance to pay for them. Once the other guys policy pays out - your UIM coverage is triggered.
