Polish International 2012: Maximilian Koreny beats Ryhor Varabyou in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Canada’s Maximilian Koreny showed his elevated skills as he defeated Russia’s Ryhor Varabyou in Men’s Singles qualifying round of 36th Yonex Polish International 2012 on Thursday, March 22, in Poland.
It was one of the best matches of the day as both shuttlers played to their maximum potential and kept the pace of rallies at the highest level. They entertained the crowd with top quality badminton for three games.
Maximilian remained lucky in the end as he won the final set with a tight margin and emerged as the winner of this tight contest.
Both shuttlers displayed their wonderful skills from the starting points of the game and remained close in the opening half.
Until the one-minute interval in the first set, the score remained tight from both sides as no one could manage a reasonable lead.
After the break, Maximilian dominated the pace of rallies as he played with precision. He continued his positive play in the concluding phase of first set and won it with a decent margin of 21-17.
In the second game, both shuttlers again put up tremendous show by employing their impressive skills and progressed equally on the score board until the break.
After the one-minute interval, they continued playing fast badminton and reached at the concluding phase of the set.
At this crucial stage, Maximilian could not control the pace of rallies and lost the set with a 19-21 score on the board.
In the deciding set, both men competed well while keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level. They played with aggression and snapped each other’s heel by remaining positive in the court.
Until the interval in the final set, Maximilian was slightly ahead of his Russian opponent on the score board.
After the break, both men remained on track without managing a comfortable lead until the score reached at the ending phase.
At this stage, Maximilian geared up his speed and managed to score ending points and won the set with a close margin of 21-19.
Maximilian emerged as the winner against Ryhor in this thrilling three-set contest with a 21-17, 19-21 and 21-19 score on the board.
