Polish International 2012: Vladimir Ivanov – Ivan Sozonov nail Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
Russia’s Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov displayed a fabulous show of top class badminton and nailed Men’s Doubles title at 36th Yonex Polish International 2012 in Poland, on Sunday, March 25.
In the title match, Ivanov and Sozonov defeated the top seeds Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz in a striking fashion.
Ivanov and Sozonov, who were the second seeds in Men’s Doubles draw of the tournament, delivered spectacular performance as they crushed their higher ranked local opponents and nailed the title.
The Russians did not show any mercy to Cwalina and Logosz and ended the battle in straight sets by taking just 26 minutes in the court.
In the opening set, Ivanov and Sozonov proved their dominating skills as they controlled and dictated the pace of rallies and remained ahead of their rival.
On the other hand, the top seeded Polish shuttlers failed to live up to expectations as they could not produce better form despite having the support of home fans and remained far behind on the score board until the break.
After the interval, Ivanov and Sozonov continued their killing run in the game as they did not drop their speed and easily manipulated the loopholes of their rivals.
The Russians played aggressive and positive game in the opening set and won it with an impressive margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Cwalina and Logosz tried to play fast badminton by accelerating their speed but failed to find desired outcome as their lower ranked Russian opponents were in complete control.
Ivanov and Sozonov were composed and positive in the opening half and took a wonderful lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the Russians did not lose their focus at any stage throughout the concluding phase. They spared no opportunity for their Polish opponents in the whole second set.
Cwalina and Logosz failed to dominate the pace of rallies and remained struggling to find a good flow.
Ivanov and Sozonov easily won the second game in an incredible fashion with a 21-13 score on the board.
The Russian duo won the title match in two games by an impressive margin of 21-11 and 21-13.
