Polish Men’s National Team starts preparation for 2011 FIVB World League
The 2011 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World League is just around the corner. The premier men’s volleyball competition will be kicked off on May 27 and it will be continued until the 10th of July.
16 best volleyball teams of the world will join the fight for supremacy. Teams will be divided into four pools, which will open the tournament in preliminary robin round. The first and second round of the championship will be hosted by various countries,
while the most influential final round will be staged in Poland.
The city of Gdansk in Poland is set to host the most thrilling episode of the tournament. The final round will complete its length from July 6-10 and it will feature the matches for top 8 positions.
Being the host of final round, Poland is automatically confirmed for the final round. However, Poland will open the tournament in Pool A along with powerhouses i.e. defending champion Brazil, United States and Puerto Rico.
The Polish team has already started the preparation for upcoming international tournament. The team members underwent a medical check-up last Thursday in Warsaw and then headed to Spala for the training camp. This year, the Polish team will be playing under
the command of a new coach and new captain.
The new mentor of Polish squad, Andrea Anastasi has worked out great plans for the fast-approaching event 2011 FIVB World League, which will be a stern test of his temperament and abilities. Apparently, the players are happy about the addition of new coach
in the team. Veteran player Michal Bakiewicz shared his thoughts in the following manner.
He said, “We have got a very positive impression from our coach and we have no doubts at all about his professionalism. He is a true expert, has great knowledge and additionally he is a very nice man.”
He further added, “So far we had two or four sessions plus another one in the gym every day. On Saturday we trained divided into groups of six. We started at 11:00 for the first couple of days and since Sunday at 9.30. We started pretty relaxed but according
to our plans the intensity will be increased day by day. We have just completed the national league and we will need some time to display our full potential.”
Following the training camp in Spala, Poles will play some friendly matches with Russia in the next week. Afterwards, they will give the final touch to their preparation and hit the podium on May 27.
They are supposed to cross their ways with American hotshots in the opening match of the tournament. Polish players are enjoying a great form and the support of new coach will surely help them to do well in the tournament.
