Polish Open 2012: Albin Carl Hjelm outshines Mateusz Dubowski in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Sweden’s Albin Carl Hjelm advanced into Men’s Singles main round after proving his worth in qualifying round contest when he overpowered Mateusz Dubowski at the Polish Open 2012 on Thursday, August 30, in Poland.
The higher ranked Albin, who was the second seeded player in qualifying round draw of the championship, played at his best and he did not face any trouble in beating his un-seeded opponent in a commanding way.
The in-form Albin was in full swing as he employed his remarkable skills quite effectively and easily registered a comprehensive victory over Mateusz in straight sets with a spectacular margin in just 27 minutes.
On the other hand, the local shuttler Mateusz failed to show a strong resistance to the visitor as he could not play dominating badminton at any stage and knelt down against his higher ranked Swedish rival without cheering his home fans.
The first set of this contest was shocking for the Polish shuttler who could not return the well executed shots of his opponent and remained struggling in all areas of the court.
In the meanwhile, Albin continued playing to his maximum potential and took a convincing lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the impressive Albin remained in complete control of the pace of rallies as he did not show any sign of confusion and eventually took the first game of the match with a fabulous 21-13 score on the board.
The second game was interesting as Mateusz lifted up his level of play and did not allow his rival to put up strong show at any stage in opening half.
The higher ranked Albin, on the other hand, tried to take comfortable lead but he failed to create gaps.
However, the Swedish player changed his tactics in the concluding part of second half and remained successful in building up a reasonable lead on the board.
At the ending points, Albin played smart badminton by anticipating his challenger’s shots quite well and won the set with a margin of 21-18.
Albin emerged as the winner of this straight-set contest that ended up in just 27 minutes with a 21-13 and 21-18 score on the board.
