Polish Open 2012: Kamila Augustyn – Agnieszka Wojtkowska power their way into Women’s Doubles final
Poland’s Kamila Augustyn and Agnieszka Wojtkowska proved their superiority on court as they reached into Women’s Doubles final after narrowly defeating their lower ranked challengers Alexandra Langley and Jenny Wallwork of England in semi-final encounter
at the Polish Open 2012 in Poland, on Saturday, September 1.
The higher ranked Kamila and Agnieszka, who were the second seeded shuttlers in the tournament, had to dig into their arsenal to overpower their un-seeded English rivals in a hard-fought contest that lasted three games long.
The higher ranked Kamila and Agnieszka got a shocking treatment in the first set but they found a good rhythm in the following games and emerged as the winners in rubber sets with a reasonable margin by spending 52 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Alexandra and Jenny played to their full potential in the first game but they could not maintain their supremacy on court and eventually went down in a hard-fought contest with a respectable score.
The opening game was absolutely shocking for the higher ranked Kamila and Agnieszka as they could not cope up with the impressive play of their opponents and remained struggling until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Polish shuttlers tried to reduce the deficit but they failed to put up strong resistance against the in-form English opponents and lost the set with a huge margin of 13-21.
However, Kamila and Agnieszka found their rhythm back at the right time as they played positive badminton in the second game and managed a reasonable gap until the break.
The Polish pair continued playing positive and composed game in the concluding half of second set and finished it off with a convincing 21-15 score on the board.
In the decider, Kamila and Agnieszka were in complete control from the opening rallies and they maintained their upper hand over their opponents by taking a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, the higher ranked local shuttlers continued playing fast and positive badminton and ultimately remained successful in winning the set with a huge 21-12 score on the board.
Kamila and Agnieszka overpowered their English opponents in a thrilling three-set contest with a margin of 13-21, 21-15 and 21-12.
