Polish coach Radoslaw Panas: We have good chances to take the trophy – 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup

Following the success of Poland’s Politechnika WARSZAWSKA in the semi-final of 2012 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, the team is aiming for the title trophy.
The head coach of the team, Radoslaw Panas, recently shared his thoughts on media and stated that his team has good chances to clinch success in the final showdown of the tournament.
Panas praised the terrific performance of his players in the crucial semi-final match on Saturday. He said, “This is our first season in the European Cups and we have immediately advanced to the last stage of the competition, so this is just great. I think
we have good chances to take the trophy. The second match with Tomis was not easy at all: after losing in Romania, they fought bravely also here in Warsaw.”
Politechnika was challenged by Romania’s Tomis Constanta in the semi-final round. The first match of the decisive round spanned over five sets and put the Poles to a real test. The match was hosted by Constanta, Romania and there was tons of pressure on
the visiting team. The sports arena was totally packed up with home supporters of Tomis.
Nonetheless, the Polish squad took up the challenge and sustained the pressure. The hard work paid off and finally Politechnika managed to defeat Tomis in front of home crowd.
After winning the first match, Poland was tipped to make it to the finals. According to the set formula of the competition, the second match was hosted by Poland. The competitive edge of playing at home and emotional support of local fans, and on top of
it the previous victory helped Politechnika to dismiss Romanian opponent in the second match. Polish team perfectly executed its plan and qualified for the final match.
The Romanian coach, Jorge Cannestracci, said, “Politechnika well deserves this spot for the final as they played a couple of great semifinals. I am still happy with the performance of my players as even after our starting setter got injured, they did fight
bravely until the end.”
Politechnika will now clash the compatriots Tytan AZS CZESTOCHOWA in the final match. The coach and team members of Politechnika are determined to seize the title trophy.
