Polish duos seek good start at the 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Opener
Poland’s Beach Volleyball duos of Michal Kadziola/Jakub Szalankiewicz and Grzegorz Fijalek/Mariusz Prudel are headed to Brazil, in order to take part in the 2011 Brasilia Open.
The first event of the 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Tour is scheduled to be kicked off on Sunday, 17th April in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The double-gender Brasilia Open will feature a total of 140 beach volleyball duos from all over the world. In the men’s division,
Poland is represented by these two duos.
The first team of Poland, comprising of Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz, is believed to save country’s reputation. They recently completed a five-day training camp in California, United States. The athletes were accompanied by head coach, Slawomir
Robert. The 2009 World Champions, Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann of Germany also showed up at the training camp. Both sides played some friendly matches and gave final touch to their preparation for the Brasilia Open. The Polish duo worked hard to hone
their skills and improved on their flaws. It was a great chance for them to train with world renowned German pair.
The mentor of Polish side, Slawomir Robert expressed his views about the training camp. He stated, “This was quite a short training camp but it definitely fulfilled the goals that we had set. We had the opportunity to train there with some of the world’s
best teams and we were driven to display our best efforts.”
The duo of Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz will have to go through the qualification process. The Poles are up for the challenge at 2011 Brasilia Open. The recent training gave them a great confidence to do well and catch the spotlight at the international
event of Brasilia Open.
On the other hand, the pairing of Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel will enter the Brasilia Open under the tag of second team from Poland. They also completed their training for the upcoming big competition in Lodz. The duo of Fijalek and Purdel has been
known for their stunning tactics. They created a major sensation at the FIVB World Tour stop of Marseille, France last year. The Polish duo clawed its way to the semi-final, where they met China’s Wu Penggen and Xu Linyin. The poles could not win the semi-final
but they managed to get hold of the bronze medal. It was Poland’s first medal in the World Tour.
The pairing of Fijalek and Purdel is already in the Main-draw. The Polish Volleyball Federation is very much focused on them as they have the ability to make a difference. The duo has the daunting task to once again rock the podium with their sensational
performance and clinch success.
Let’s see if Polish men’s side catches any limelight at the Brasilia Open.
