Question:

Political allegiance of the British Queen?

Obviously, I know technically she has to remain neutral, and have no political allegience of any sort, and thus she never mentions it. But has she ever slipped at any point and hinted as to her political allegiance?

Thanks

  1. No, she never has and probably never will.

  2. I think her philosophy leans towards Conservativism, that being said, she follows her legal mandate of neutrality and had some very good relationships with socialist Prime Ministers.

  3. During the 1980s there were reports that she disagreed with Thatcher over sanctions against South Africa (she favoured them; Thatcher didn't). The Sunday Telegraph also had a story just before Blair resigned saying that she was appalled by his record on the countryside and constitutional reform. But these aren't really 'slips'; she's never been as improper as her father was in endorsing the Munich agreement before parliament had considered it.

  4. Somehow I think she's pro-monarchichal and against the dissolution of the monarchy.  Just a shot in the dark.

  5. The queen is very measured in her speech, and would never slip up like that. She can't even vote. You are lucky to have her.
