Political extortion in America on the citizens?

Question

I gew up being told the Russians were coming for me. That is why my relatives had to die in wars and our taxes became a huge issue. Why my relatives had to go to Vietnam. For the last 8 years I have been told the terrorists are coming to get me. That's why for every dollar I make I have to pay one to the government to protect me with tax dollars. I am starting to feel like I live in little Italy. Has anyone else had an idea like this?

I've never had as little faith in our government as I do now, since the Bush Administration and Republicans have been in control for so long.
