moddy almondy I hate to be the one who has to set you straight but in the current laws in Canada it is illegal to posses any amount of marijuana Tho a lot of people are confused same as you the bill to make possession of 15 grams and under into only a fineable offense never fully past into law it was on the floor right around the time of the last election but when the conservatives came into power the bill was never brought up again. and died in the water, however a lot of police still will not bug you for small amounts I read somewhere about a study of police and it said around 60-80% of them don't bug people about having a gram or 2 however that still leaves a lot of them that will even if you only have 1 joint on you

  1. The Conservatives want it to remain illegal and the Liberals might say they want it decriminalised but would never legalise it for fear of losing tax revenue and completely messing up US relations.  The NDP probably want pot smoking made manditory to increase votes for their party.

None of the oposition parties are serious about getting it de-crimminalised.  If any of them were a private memebers bill could have been introduced and probably passed.

  2. Sorry, you're wrong. It's not illegal, it's decriminalized. Huge difference. Illegal implies criminal charges just for possesion. You can have marijuana on your person, provided it's less than 3 grams. Over that, it's a fine, as it's considered trafficking.

I think it's more of a smokescreen issue at this point, nobody really cares unless you produce/traffic it.

  3. its legal till you get caught.

actually, not really. but its not like they can do anything about it.

the party thats most likely to legalize it is the marijuana party. but theres no way that theres going to be enough people voting for them.
