I've always been uncertain as to what political party I fit in so I went to politicalcompass.org and took their test.

I got this screen shot of the graph but I don't know what it means. Can someone shed some light on what this means/lables me as?

  1. Hillary Clinton is that you?

  2. Slightly on the left, slightly authoritarian. I would say socialist or center-left. Not as in the former USSR or as in Cuba, of course, which are way more authoritarian, but maybe as in the European socialist parties. I think there are also socialist parties in America, but they don't get to power.

  3. You pretty much have no problem forcing people to live under your rules which would confiscate private property and turn it into state owned property. Pretty much you want to bring back the old Soviet Union.

interesting I am a 7.8 -1.23 pretty close to Milton Friedman, and I am good with that. Much more accurate than I would have thought.

  4. I'm about 9 down and 2 to the left of you (-7,-7). I really enjoy the site, btw, and I hope more people check it out.

You would probably vote Green if you voted only on policies. The Green Party supports a robust government role in promoting environmental health, economic justice, social equality, reduction of corporate control of media and politics, etc.

By contrast, the Democratic Party has squatted just about on the center of the grid since losing the 1980 election. That's right, (0,0). That explains its stunning electoral successes in the past 27 years.

Continuing the use of Cartesian coordinates, the Republican Party is split between about (8,8) - think White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, the Behemoth of Homeland Security, etc. - and about (5,-8) - the land of Ted Nugent.

What's the party at (-7,-7)? There isn't one, yet, but we're hauling on the "fringes" (-2,-2) of the Democratic Party to move it in that direction.

Note to Stephen M. - check out the site (politicalcompass.org) - for the location of Stalin. You were a little off. After you take the test, the analysis page will compare your position to historical figures.

  5. I think the old term "Pinko-Commie" fits.

  6. You are a left leaning dictator.
