Poll: 9PM curfew for under 15 Good or Bad?

Question

So you may of heard in the U.K they want to introduce a law stating that anyone under 15 should be at home and not on the streets after 9pm. Do you think its good or bad? And why?

Does anyone agree that the minority of bad kids are spoiling everything for the good kids?

Uhm stupid, what is it with the uk, first checking kids lunches at school, and now a curfew. Leave some parenting for the parents!

I don't think it's good. It's too hard to generalize like that.

There are responsible kids, who can make good decisions, and hampering their choice might even have a negative effect.

Then there are people who cant even leave the house without getting into trouble.

Be thankful that you're country is trying to do something to protect you. Do you know what happens to children and teens after dark when they are alone? Nothing good, I'm sure.

This rather reminds me of gun control laws here in the states. Those places that restrict gun ownership severely have accomplished only one thing: reducing the volume of law abiding citizens who carry/own a firearm for personal protection. The law doesn't prevent the lawless from carrying because, well, they're lawless. I think (my own opinion) that the only kids who will voluntarily submit to the curfew law would be the kids that you don't have to worry about anyway.

What does on the streets refer to? I recently read a question on here who was upset because she just got a fine for a curfew violation because she asked her son to go run to the corner store to pick her up some medicine for her flu.

big brother state! to be fair tho it would be safer if under 15s were in at 9. the streets ok the uk need cleaning up.. then let teh kids play

*Cerfews arent just to stop kids from doing bad things...its mainly to protect you from others on the streets doing bad things. Theres not much open past then anyway so there is no reason to be out that late on the streets. Bars dont typically close until 2-3am so thats when all of the drunks come out..they are just trying to protect kids. Just chill at your friends house and get a ride home, ore vice versa.

no way! maybe for the under 12 set. but people under 15 are not that immature! it may look like it based on all the posts on this page that say "im pregnt!" but really. 9 PM is ludacris.

The curfews in my area counties are all at 10 p.m., not 9.  By the  way, curfews also protect children.

"On the streets."

What on earth does that mean. You could be going out to a family party that's completely innocent and have to walk home after nine. Then you'd be on the streets after 9. It drives me crazy this s**+*. A few chavs go about drinking and smoking and the rest of the people under 15 have to suffer. What the h**l is that about? Have the government never heard of innocent fun after 9? It's ridiculous, how else are teens going to learn about life in the real world if they have to be home by nine.

I'm 18 btw, so it wouldn't affect me but it stil annoys me!
