  1. Unfortunately, yes.

Religion and religious favoritism are unavoidable in America.

s&b nailed it.  The country with so-called "separation of church and state" is the only one in the world with a religious motto on its currency.

  2. Yeah I kinda agree, but I still don't think that religion and politics should mix in.

  3. Yes, but it's not like those religious people (Bush) completely envelops his religion into politics. Even he knows his boundaries. If he went to, oh I dunno, Iraq, and called all of them sinners because the Bible says they are... well, use your imagination. As long as they speak more political than the Bible (a lot more), then I'm fine by it, no matter what their religion is.

  4. Not a myth by any stretch of the imagination (pardon the pun).  The US was founded upon the principle of separation of church and state for a very good reason.  When church and state are linked together (or are the same) then you have the situation where one specific religion or religious organization has control over all the people (no matter what religion they are - or if they are of no religious persuasion).  This situation can only contribute to stress and conflict within the government / state / and community as different religious groups are persecuted or marginalized by the one in control.  Generally, war will result out of this.  Separating the State from the Religions leaves all religions on equal footing.  A much more peaceful situation.

  5. No, there is no official religion of the US.

  6. yes considering on the dollar bill it says "in god we trust" and when we go to court we are sworn in with our hand on a bible. how hypocritical

  7. No, I really don't feel that way at all. Sometimes religious people seem to get in positions of power and try to control things, but there seem to be enough people of differing beliefs that it's not totally biased...not for too long anyway.
