I'm a fabulous tipper. I tip at least 20 percent -- more if I've been drinking (LOL).

  1. If the service is good I usually tip 15%, less for bad service.  However, that is for full service.  At a cafeteria or buffet, where you serve yourself I tip one dollar for each person at the table, plus another dollar for the table.   So for a party of four the tip would be $5.00.

But as far as I'm concerned, tipping has gotten out of hand.  The original purpose for the tip was for good service.  Now it is expected even when the service is lousy, and I don't buy it at all.

I had a friend who worked as a waiter in a steak restaurant and he hated to be assigned a big party, say of 15-20 people.  His reason was that everyone in the party thinks that the waiter is making a killing off big tips and this is simply not true.

  2. I dont tip on %, i tip on there work and how they talk to me, if i or my family gets good service then i leave a very good tip, most of time the tip will take there breath away

  3. I defiantly tip 20% or more, especially in a restaurant. I am a big tipper. People that work for tips work hard for the money and I feel like I have to make up for the cheap people out there that hate to tip.

  4. I leave 15%

    ;D

  5. Usually, unless the server didn't deserve it

  6. always 20 percent ,,,,,, except for my hair dresser ,,,,,,, then it's 25 ,,,,,  gotta take care of the person that takes care of the hair

  7. no not at all...im guilty but im getting better

  8. Well I work at a restaurant. I'm not a waitress, I'm a hostess but people do not realize that many of these waiters depend on the tips. At least at the restaurant I work at, they get payed 2.50 an hour and tips are not necessarily required. I do believe they should work hard for them so that they deserve it, but there are people that don't like to tip even though the service wasn't bad at all.

  9. Ohh god. lol

i not much of a tipper.

    my friends & bf are.....

sometimes when the waitress is super hot i give at least $7.

    but not anymore than that.

i should try tipping when im tipsy...

haha, i might give away my whole wallet. lmao ; ]

  10. LOL  Same here.  I tip good because I waited tables to help pay for college!!  I know what those poor souls go through!!  :@)

  11. i live in the UK and tipping isnt so much of a big deal.

but yeah i will most of the time.

  12. Yes I am a good tipper. My mother was in food services for over forty years. She raised my siblings and I to remember it was the tips that put the roof over our head and food in our stomachs. When I go out and not responsible for the cheque I still make sure the tip is adequate by offering to leave it for the group. It is almost a compulsive thing with me.

  13. My wife used to work for a restaurant back then.  She always insists in tipping very good!! If the waiter/waitress pays much attention to my child...I will tip even more!!!

  14. Usually 10%, when getting alcohols, it becomes nearly 20%

  15. I tip 20-30 percent depending on the level  of service.

  16. nope...i dont like tipping unless iv got there number lol well depends how gd they have been

  17. why in this section

  18. If I get good service, I tip 20%....more than that is gauche! I am not trying to prove anything to anyone by tipping lavishly. If I get lousy service, I say so to the waiter, etc....and tip 5%. I am very easy to wait on, do not argue, do not make any scenes...but tipping is for service...if you get it, you tip the person, if you do not, then the person needs to know that tips are not automatic. IF you tip well for bad service, you are enabling the person in bad work...no thanks.

  19. 20% minimum. Working tables is a hard job and I speak from experience. I go to Steak-n-Shake a lot and typically I don't order more than $10-$12 worth but regardless of the COST of the food, the waiter/waitress still has to service the table, make sure everything's OK and be attentive. So for that I usually tip about $4.

  20. Nope 10% to 15% tops.  Although some have said I have an nice "tip."  LOL :P

  21. I've spent a long time being a server.  I tip 20 %, sometimes more.  People don't understand how hard a job it is, how much the public can be jerks. . . or declaring tips and tipping out.  Even if I was LUCKY enough to be making minimum wage beyond my tips, I'd often get a 2 cent paycheck.  Literally.

Most servers don't have health care either, and there are always slow nights where you don't make a lot of money.

  22. If a tip is indeed deserved...I tip VERY well!  But I have had some extraordinarily cr@ppy service a few times and those people did not get a tip, because I did nothing to deserve that bad service : )

  23. wer i come from tipping is beyond the call of duty in most cases, generally i never tip (nor expect a tip) only in a fancy restaurant when service was exceptional. wages here are very good.

if i was to leave a tip on the bar the barman would probably follow me around to give me the money i 'forgot' to lift off the bar!
