Question:

Poll: Did Bristol Palin's parents forbid abortion? Are they forcing her to marry?

Hey at least they are not forcing her to give her baby up for adoption. As much as it hurts Bristol, is this not the right time to bring this topic into the American mindset? Many states pass laws that forbid parents from forcing abortion, shouldn't we also pass laws forbidding parents from forcing adoption or pregnancy or marriage?

  1. Well, Bristol's mom is a pro-life fanatic, so there is a very high chance that they either forced her daughter to keep the baby, or guilted her into it.

  2. When, exactly, IS the right time?  You have an opportunity, and you want to shut it out?

I hope her family laid down some consequences about abortion; expressing disappointment sometimes works, but isn't always enough.  My father laid down the law when I was a teenager; if I got a girl pregnant, I was to move out of HIS house, not ask for his help, would not attend a wedding should I marry that girl, and I would not be welcome back to HIS house until I could prove I was supporting that baby and its mother whether I married her or not.  I think young Miss Palin is very fortunate to have such a supportive family.

I oppose abortion; it is murder (and I also oppose the death penalty just in case you're curious).  As long as that girl lives in their house, Mom and Dad should have overall say what happens there.  The state should stay out of it.

Edit: I was well informed about the consequences of s*x thanks to my parents.  The specific talk was kinder than it appears, but I KNEW they meant it.

  3. No and NO. Question for you... Are you ever going to leave these children alone??????????????????

  4. When you don't believe in teaching sexual education in schools, you have to be prepared for the consequences.  All of the Palin's are learning that.

By the way, Palin's mother in law is unsure of who she will be voting for.

  5. There is that possibility.  Her choice, that they so proudly mention, was probably between having it and getting married or giving the child up for adoption.

  6. A parents job is to guide their child into making good decisions.  It is unethical to force somebody to do something that would impact their life like marriage, abortion, or adoption would even if it is what you think would be best.  In those kinds of situations it is impossible to tell what kind of psychological damage could happen.  In the case of marriage, forcing somebody to get married young is practically like giving them a huge headache later and regrets later.  Most marriages between very young people fail.  I got married when I was 16 and 4 months pregnant.  My husband and I have had a real hard time learning how to have a relationship.  My parents attempted to force me to have an abortion (I refused)....then get married...I refused (and I'm putting this nicely).  In the end we decided to marry and by that point my mother had changed her mind on wanting us to get married.  However, we did and it was MY choice.  The way it should be.  Me and my husband have been married 6 1/2 years now and are still happy together.  We were one of the lucky ones.  Everyone thought we would have failed by now.  It really is impossible to tell what will happen.

  7. The answer to that question may never be known

  8. I'm sure that growing up in a house hold with such a right side stance on abortion that Bristol probably never thought about it. but on the marriage issue. you would have thought that this is something that would have been talked about earlier. such as her oldest son is in the military. and they should have( if they had known) said that her daughter is getting married and that she is pregnant. instead of what seems like a rushed marriage to keep there conservative voters happy. I'm just interest to hear the boyfriends side of it. but he is probably being told what to say, as to not messing up the gov. chance. again if they were already getting married then i think that would have gave more of the apparence of an avarege american family. not just political pawn trying to appease the ultra right.

  9. I agree, let's leave the kids out of it, but the important point is that McCain and the GOP want to ban abortion.  They believe a woman should not have the right to choose.  McCain says "Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned."

  10. i believe it's half forcing to marry and half this boy wants to hop on the gravy train before it pulls out. and yes there should be laws forbidding it but they would be pointless as there would be no way of enforcing them

  11. that's a private family matter

  12. Parents cannot legally force any of these options.

Pregnancy and abortion are valid topics to discuss, but not the private life of the governor's daughter.

  13. The teen should have kept her legs closed.

  14. how can sarah palin let her unmarried daughter to have s*x....they are careless parents.

  15. That's really a personal matter, you should respect their right to privacy

  16. No one is forcing her to do anything she will do what she wants

do you think her parents wanted her to get pregnant?

the biggest question here is did mccain know she was pregnant before he picked palin?

  17. I can't answer the question, but all I can say is that

Hmm.. Ironic. A mother that doesn't support government funding for sexual education ends up being the grandmother to an illegitimate child who's mother is only 17.

    also.. statutory rape??

and.... for those that are trying to stick up for their rights to privacy, hello, you give up that right to privacy when you run for elected government positions. also, sarah palin told the whole world HERSELF the news about her daughter.

they chose to give up that privacy right.

  18. I can see parents telling their child what to do ... she's only 17 BUT where were they when she was out getting it on is my question? LOL You can't be a parent only after the fact. Also, the kid is going to have a cushy and good up-bringing, no need to force drastic measures anyway.

I feel bad for her because being that age and pregnant isn't easy as it is and now the whole world knows and everyone is going to pass judgement.

  19. it was her daughters choice.she showed up today in minnesota with levi in hand.looks happy to me.or do you have a problem with love and responsibility?

  20. Yes.

  21. Who knows for sure. When they announced that Bristol/Levi were expecting it would have been nice to hear that the teens were both going to continue their education instead of them getting married.  It definitely sounds forced.  Hopefully Bristol & Levi will be able to make the best decision for them and their baby based on what they truly feel in their hearts.

  22. Why is it so important to poke into someone's private business.

  23. 1.Yes they forbid abortion. [THAT'S WHY SHE'S FIVE MONTHS PREGNANT DUH!]

2.Yes they are forcing her to marry to save their butts.

No we shouldn't pass laws forbidding parents from forcing adoption or pregnancy and marriage.

If kids want to act like adults then they should face the consequences and realize the severity of their choices and actions. Once the child is of legal age they can do whatever they want, but while they are still under the parent's roof they should do as they are told.

  24. no one knows if they forced it
