Poll: Do you know what field hockey is?

Question

It's the biggest, most important thing in my life right now, but when I go to find any kind of field hockey icon for aim or my yahoo avatar, there aren't any, as if it doesn't even exist. Half of the adults I talk to have no idea what it is, and I find that incredibly hard to beleive. It is, btw, an Olympic sport.... they just don't have it on primetime. If you know what it is, could you explain to me why so many people don't?

we had a field hockey team in highschool, it is the kinkiest sport ever.  a bunch of girls in short skirts running around beating eachother up with sticks? awesome.

Yes I know what field hockey is.  I just got home from practice; it is one of the most important things in my life too right now.

I find it ridiculous that nobody knows about field hockey.  I live near the olympic training center where the US men and women practice and I've seen them play in person.  I saw the US women play versus Argentina (I was a ball girl, so I was a couple of feet from the field).  It was the most amazing sports game I have ever seen.  I think field hockey is popular over the world, just not the US because people would rather watch football (which I don't like that much).

I know what it is but only just learned because I saw it on the Olympics. One of the reasons I love the Olympics so much is because it introduces me to sports I've never heard about before. I'm sure others feel the same way!

As you know it isnt really popular in the USA, more of a fringe sport. I love it ,my daughters 2 of 3 are or have been regional all americans. Both have or are playing at D1 leval. Preseason has already started and her first game is Aug 31. Keep plugging, kid play for yourself and your teammates. Enjoy the game for the game.
