  6. well jeez... everyone like firefox. I have always used IE but maybe I'll try out FF for a bit.

  7. I understand that you are interested in informative answers so I will first tell you which I prefer and then take the time to explain why.

I prefer Firefox over Internet Explorer mainly because it has better support for standards.  On my machine, Internet Explorer scores a 12 out of 100 on the Acid3 test and completely fails the Acid2 test.  Firefox on the other hand passes the Acid2 test and scores a 71 out of 100 on Acid3.

Internet Explorer is like a cancerous tumor on the internet.  Because of it's proprietary technology and the fact that it is only available to run on Microsoft Windows it becomes a real pain for web developers that mainly use Linux or Mac OS since they have to buy Windows to test their pages in IE, which will undoubtedly render them wrong.  It's common practice for most (considerate) web developers to design their pages based on the web standards laid out by the W3C and then have to spend hours if not days or weeks to "break it" so it will work in Internet Explorer.

A couple of the other reasons I prefer Firefox are the add ons (DOM Inspector, Web Developer toolbar, Greasemonkey, and Firegestures to name a few), and the abundance of power user options available through about:config and the prefs.js file.

Also, I agree with Anoge about activeX.  It's potentially harmful and there is absolutely no reason that any web page should require it.  If I come across a page that requires Internet Explorer (like Yahoo LAUNCHcast), which is usually because it requires ActiveX, I turn around and find an alternative that doesn't (like AOL Radio).  If a web site requires Internet Explorer it tells me one of two things; either the developers are trying to exploit ActiveX vulnerabilities or they are just plain lazy, in which case your better off on a different web site with better developers.

  8. I prefer Firefox, because it's more customizable.

    Firefox Add-ons and themes: http://addons.mozilla.org/

Also, if you've just posted something on a comment box for example, and the following page doesn't load, Firefox allows you to "resend" everything so you don't lose everything you've typed.  If you click on the 'back' button, your post in the comment box is saved.

IE on the other hand doesn't have this feature and if the following page doesn't load properly you risk losing the data you've typed.

IE is only better if you visit a lot of sites that require activeX.  But then again many of such sites are potentially harmful to your computer.

  9. Firefox.

    W3C-compliant.  (IE still isn't really)

Foxmarks (all 4 of my computers are synchronized)

    Greasemonkey (the web MY way)

    Firebug

(I'm not going to list the rest of my 22 add-ons.)
