I do think Pocono is too long of a race.  I love the track but I think they should shorten it to 300 miles.  That would be120 laps.  That would still take 3 hours to complete.

Absolutely agree both Pocono races are way too long. I think both races would be alot more exciting with only 400 miles. Usually there are more contenders at the 400 mile mark than the 500 so I'd like to see 4-5 guys go for the win instead of only 2 due to fuel mileage or attrition. Just my opinion.

I know he is not the only driver to voice that opinion. It doesn't matter to me if it is 400 or 500 miles to be honest. I will watch it regardless.

A poll asking NASCAR fans what they want is always a good idea though.

For starters, other drivers than Jr have been saying the same thing, so those of you saying he's whining need to find something else to bash him on. That said, the Pocono races are kinda hard to watch simply because it is a long race, so shortening them is not a bad idea.

I think they need to have one at 400 an one at 500. If I am not mistaking, isn't the the way its done in Daytona???

Dale Jr is not the first driver to complain about 1000 miles a yr at Pocono, last yr on a Nascar Now I remember Jeff Burton saying there is no reason they have to go to Pocono for 1000 miles a yr, he was in favor of 800 miles a yr, 400 each thats enough.. I've heard this come up numerous time even on David Poole's Sirius Radio show.. They go there in June and come back again in August, maybe they should spread the months out.. I'd like to see atleast one of them changed to 400 miles....Gonna take more than Dale Jr to get it changed.. I;ve been to 2 races there they were exciting races but it was yrs ago. I know some people love this place, I can take it leave.

It doesn't matter to me. It has it's advantages of being long. One example of that is that it gives people some time to improve their setups that didn't hit it during practices. That increases the overall competition (which is something I am a  big fan of).

As far as fuel mileage goes, no matter how many laps a race is it always has a chance of turning into a fuel mileage race. One off sequence pit and the race can become a fuel mileage race anyway. In fact teams purposely pit early just for that reason so that's just not something that is track specific about Pocono.

If Junior is the only one that has made the comment then I would say he is alone. But if more   drivers feel the same way then that is something that may need addressing. Then there are the rest of the drivers that would never voice their opinion and take whatever NASCAR throws at them.

I'm not a Jr fan, but I think the race should be shortened to 400 miles. I realize this isn't everyone's problem, but I had a toddler and can only see the first 3 hours of a race. After that, my son goes crazy and I miss most of the last hour.

I think they ought to shorten the pocono race the track is too big for 400 laps they need to shorten it to 250 or 300

Pocono is one of the most boring races on the circuit. For years I watch the first 20-30 laps, go find something to do so I don't fall asleep, then turn the race back on for the final 10-15 laps. No one rarely passes anyone, it's now for sure a follow-the-leader race thanks to the COT. At least no one was blowing tires.

500 miles is too long for that race, and 2 races a year is too many at that track...despite it bringing me joy both times this year with Shurb finishing 43rd and 36th respectively.

Jeff Gordon has said there is no reason to run 500 miles or even have both races at Pocono...so no, it's not just Jr.

I have always been kind of critical when it comes to Pocono but this past Sunday in my opinion was one of the best races this year. I know the weather played a little roll on everything but dang it, I was glued to the TV for the whole race.(Although I thought I had broke the remote when Kurt spun for umpth teenth hundred time this year by his self). I mean you didnt know who was good on fuel or not. The crew chiefs didnt even know, they all said that in the post race interviews.

Whatever Dale Jr says you can bet Nascar is going to listen. Im not saying that in a bad way. There are only a few drivers I think that Nascar would actually think about what they have to say. Dale Jr and the other drivers are the only ones who know how hard it is to drive there so If that is the case then Nascar needs to do what they have to do.

It seems like every race is a fuel mileage race so it would not matter if it was 400 or 500 miles. I would prefer they either a) shorten the race to 400 miles, or b) keep it at 500 miles but only go to Pocono once a year and come to Iowa in the summer :)

I think the Pocono races are a bit long. But that's just my opinion.

in my opinion, races come on only 1 time a week and at pocono its nice and long, but im not a driver. if i was a  driver i would prolly definently agree with dale.

so by putting myself in there shoes i think they should shorten it to 400 miles and it would still pretty long so i think that is the best thing to do.

425 miles just for the sake of answering and staring you.  Yup, I think it is too long though.  Why?  Because my butt starts to hurt after too much time on the couch.
