so it started with what I thought was a mosquito bite behind one knee, then the other, then my ring finger became too sensitive to wear my ring and a bit swollen and a few inexplicable itchy spots under each of my arms and other random spots including the tops of my feet. I have used anti-itch cream but nothing seems to help. I don't think I ate anything out of the norm or took any different meds....any ideas? And how do I stop the itching? I am going insane! And my finger is a bit swollen and not only itches now but hurts as well.

  1. I wish you had said how long ago this started. It does sound like a topical allergy. Dilute some apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of water. Add a drop or two of pure essential lavender oil or chamomile oil. Use this to gently wash the affected areas.

Since you have it on your armpits, I would suspect a laundry product, new unwashed item of clothing or bath soap or lotion. It may be something new or just something you have developed an allergic reaction to over time.

Dry skin can cause dermatitis or aggravate a skin condition caused by something else. Use plain old virgin olive oil for a moisturizer while you try to get to the bottom of this.

Any possibility you have been exposed to poison ivy or oak? It can take several days for the blisters to appear. They start out watery, itchy and red. After a day or so they start to hurt. You will break out first in the areas first exposed. People who've breathed the smoke from the vines burning can break out any and everywhere. Benadryl helps. Also a topical product called "Ivy Itch RE-LEAF" made by Herbs, Etc. out of Santa Fe.

  2. Go to a doctor or pharmacist.

  3. Ohhhh, geez mate, that's  no good ♥ Is it possible that you are having an allergic reaction to a new perfume, body soap or body lotion, laundry detergent, air freshner, cleaning product???  All these things could be irritating your sensitive system.

In the meantime to realkalise the PH level of your skin on your body and eliminate the ghastly itching put a cup full of white vinegar into a bath and fill with warm water ♥ Get in the bath and soak for 15 - 20 minutes ensuring you don't get the vinegary water in your eyes or it may burn  ........ the vinegar will realkalise the ph level of your skin and make you comfortable again..

You are obviously using a body lotion, soap, laundry powder, perfume etc that you are allergic to and it is messing with the ph balance of the skin on your skin ............... try different brands out, the best ones to buy if you can't afford the organic varities (usually really expensive) are the ones specifically designed for people with sensitive skin.

The vinegar and water cure is brilliant and works instantly.................♥

No chemicals or other nasties in the vinegar and it is very cheap and easy to do ♥

    take care of you ♥

    CHEERS

  4. Yes, it sounds like "hives" - usually you get "hives" - like they're on your arm or leg.  But you can also get something like angio-edema which is just hives on steroids.

    Very unpleasant.

The only thing that usually puts a stop to this is Prednisone - you can take it safely for a while, but probably not a good drug to "get on" and use day after day.

Not much you can do topically - anti-itch stuff will work on weak cases of hives, but not on strong cases.  Both heat and ice seem to make them worse.  What they often recommend is to just 'bathe' them with a cool damp cloth.  Other than that, you have to wait for the swellings to go away.  They will last 2 to three days.

Or perhaps I'm wrong and it isn't hives.  I suppose you need an opinion from some doctor.

  5. You could be having an allergic reaction to anything. When you say under your arms and under your ring finger, It makes me think of metals.  Perhaps from the blade from shaving and the metals of the ring.  Maybe it's perfumes or even laundry soap or stress.  You might try Benadryl.  It sounds like you may have tried hydocordisone creams as  topical agent.  One time I had a reaction so badly that I had to be put on steroids to clear it up.  So if it doesn't help, make an appt.
