  1. From a country with beautiful people. I've seen shows on tv about couples adopting these ugly babies, and I was like, "wtf?"

  2. ummmone that cte pple come from

  3. I don't think that the country really matters. The important thing is that your doing it and it feels right for everyone involved, and that you can love the child just as much as any biological child of yours. Other than that, it's all pretty much unimportant. I think it's important to try to adopt children from your own country if you can, because people in America go out of their way to adopt these adorable little Asian babies like they're some kind of trophy, without realizing that are kids in their own neighborhood who need to be loved just as much as anybody else.

  4. The USA, where I live, because I believe it's in the best interests of the kids to have future contact with their first families and their heritage.  It's not their fault their adopted, and they seek answers.  It can be nearly impossible if they're adopted from overseas.

  5. Darfur. Because THERE- Adoption is sometimes the ONLY alternative to Starvation... Can YOU think of a Better Reason??!  :0

  6. It is said that 1 in 3 children in Nepal are slaves - so there you go.

But since it is obvious that kids that orginate from countries in Africa (such as Kenya) are poor to some extent, perhaps it is just as wise to adopt a kid from there...?

  7. I'm with everyone who said the country you live in. If you live in the USA you should adopt from the USA. Every year 400,000 to 600,000 kids go into foster care in America, out of that over 100,000 never go back to their homes and NEED adopting. People assume that because they are in America they do not starve or get abused. That's wrong! Some foster homes only put up a front for the home check, once they get their child, some of them turn the water back off, the lights off, they spend their money on crack, sell their food stamps for drugs, dont feed their foster kids. Lots of bad people foster children, many of them abuse, physically, mentally, and sexually their foster kids. Maybe if they made videos about American foster kids living in c**p, like they do about some of the other countries people would see their home town might just be the perfect place to find a child. But if they did make that video it will show faults of our government, so it will never get done!

  8. I agree with Steve K.  I also feel that a person/couple should adopt from wherever their heart tells them.  As for everyone who insists on adopting from your own country, I can speak of some of the reasons that a person may choose to adopt outside the U.S.  My wife and I chose this route and adopted from Guatemala.

I have read many of the responses of people who insist on adopting from your own country and it seemed that most people already had children.  Imagine that you are unable to have children.  You wish to adopt a newborn, which is nearly impossible in the U.S.  Another problem is that even after adoption, there is a time in which the birthmother can change her mind and decide to take the child.  Do you think you could handle the heartbreak??

When we researched on adopting in the U.S. we were strongly encouraged to adopt either "special care" or siblings, and they were older in both situations.  Imagine missing the formative years of your child.

  9. I think USA. Why? That's where my peanuts are from.

  10. The one you live in.  Adoptees lose their family, heritage, genetic mirror...why should they have to lose their culture, homeland, and all that comes with it, too?

  11. YOUR OWN!

  12. The one you live in - for obvious reasons

  13. The country that is best to adopt from is the country that you, as the adoptive parent, feel called to adopt because you know that your child is there, and you wish to open your home to them.

Some may choose Russia or Eastern Europe, because they know that children there will be turned out on the streets if they are not adopted and will live as prostitutes. Some will choose Africa, where many children, especially orphans, die of hunger. Some will choose China, because of the laws there that restrict how many children a woman can have. And some will choose the U.S., because there are many children here who need a home.

Research it thoroughly. There are adoption agencies out there that are reputable, and there are those that are crooked. Adopt where you know your child is.

  14. Whichever country, at the time of adoption, is in the most need for adopters for the orphans.

  15. I think we should adopt kids from Africa.

Because wiht the growing AIDS epidemic. If the kid is in Africa it has a better chance of getting AIDs than if it was in the USA.We could save a persons life bringing them to this country..

    so yeah

  16. What ever country you are living in.  There is less disruption to the child that way.  Even though I've done an international adoption and wouldn't have changed it for the world I still feel that way.  We didn't have any problems but I think we are the exception to the rule and were more lucky then anything.

  17. Whichever country YOU YOURSELF would be willing to give up everything you know and move to.

Because if you are not willing to give up your home, your family, your language, your culture, your friends, EVERYTHING that you have, and move to another country to raise that child in, then why do you expect a child to do the same for you?  Do you think any child wants to lose everything just to become yours?
