Poll: Which one is better and why? American Football or Soccer?

Definitely American Football because i watched a  4 hour soccer game one time and the final score was 0-0.......what kinda c**p is that? it takes all the fun out of it..after that i vowed to never watch another soccer match ever......

hahah whats the point of asking this question. Of course most people are gonna say american football because well this is an american football country. I personally like soccer a lot more because it takes a lot more skills to play soccer. It a lot harder to do things with your feet then hand. Plus there are no stupid timeouts or commercials every 2 minutes in soccer.

What a stupid poll, of course everyone is going to say American Football when you post it in this category. Try posting it in the Soccer category and see what responses you get!!

It's like posting a poll on the Colts web page asking who's a better QB Peyton Manning or Tom Brady???

But I do like American Football better, Soccer is so boring and uneventful.

I love BOTH sports and you truly can't compare the two.

American Football is about physical strength and bashing the other team into the ground.  It's made for TV with a ton of stoppage/down time between plays and more than enough opportunity to bore the audience with endless commercials.

It is a great game and one that I have watched since I was old enough to remember.

As for Soccer...also a great game.  It is more elogant and graceful.  To understand the game is to understand the individual battles that take place on the pitch.  It's a game of 11 games within the game.  All are one on one battles.  The team who wins the most one on one battles will have the best opportunity at group success.

The beauty is that the game never stops...it is on a continuous clock and thus there is no room for commercial interuption.  American TV doesn't know how to manage this and provide a clean broadcast to Soccer fans.

The players from both sports are different as well.  In Football, is is about skill and executing the play that is being called in from the coach.  Essentially a football player does not need to analyze, assess or think on the field, he is basically a robot who does what the Coach tells him to do.

While in Soccer, a player must execute the play, but they must first analyze the situation on the pitch, determine the best course of action and then execute the play that they determined in their own mind.  In other words they have to think on the fly.

Again both sports have their pro's and con's...I love them both and don't believe they compare...one is not better than the other, they are merely different sports!!!

Now compare the NFL to the CFL or AFL and you might have some good debates...these are similar sports and they each have their own merits as to which is better.

I take the NFL and International Soccer as my two favorite sports activities to watch!!!

Definitely American football. Just because Soccer is the most popular sport doesn't mean its not better. All you need is a football or any ball for that matter to play. Who says you have to wear pads to play?

More popular world wide is soccer.... I have a hard time with this one because my grandfather played soccer for Germany, we only had soccer at my high school and I was a cheerleader but....

Personally, I grew up watching football and to this day I would watch it any day over soccer.  But soccer is also fun to play...

Well, I, myself, love watching college football along with a little bit of MLS (GO RED BULLS!!). But, you gotta look at it in a global P.O.V. We Americans say that American Football dominates Soccer because of national pride and hard-hitting action, but some don't realize that 2/3 of the worlds nations have soccer as their national sport. American Football has lost its global grasp for the past 2 decades (ie: The NFL Europe). The sports only dominace is in North America (ie: NLF and CFL). And because of the MLS, soccer is makeing a huge move into the States; I mean, look how many proffesional soccer stadiums were built since 2000. In conclusion, Soccer is the ultimate sport.

Clearly football (soccer) is better as it is played in EVERY country in the world, whereas American Football is only popular in one country. Any kid in any poor country can play soccer as all they need is a ball of hay / elastic bands etc., but for American Football only rich Americans can play it.
