I do not think it is fair just because one team dominates every year, that they take out a sport. And why are they not doing it for Basketball? They are hurting the athletes more than they are hurting the fans.

  1. I wish I knew the criteria for keeping a sport in the Olympics. Obviously, there is a lot of politics that is not so much the sport, but the USA.

They won't take out basketball. It's the second most popular team sport in the world behind soccer.

Guess all we have to look forward to in international competition is the World Baseball Classic.

  2. I think they should keep softball but im okay with taking out baseball because we dont even use our professional players but the softball players are stilll really talented

  3. OH YEAH I'M RIGHT THERE WITH YOU MAN!!!!!

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SHOULD BE IN THE OLYMPICS EVEN IF ONE TEAM DOMINATES

  4. I have no problem with those sports being removed. I'd also like to see Beach Volleyball go.  All three of these sports were put into the games by pressure from the United States who, apparently, has a severe complex about not winning the most medals. So what do they do?  They try to seed the Olympics with sports that are by and large mostly played within the United States. What better way to dominate the medal count?

  5. I don't like the decision to drop baseball and softball, but I understand why they are doing it. The sport simply is not played in enough countries worldwide for it to be an Olympic event.

  6. think they should keep team because there is soccer and basketball

  7. It's simple, they aren't played world wide.  If you have watched the chaos on the baseball field, you should be happy they are getting rid of it.

BTW Blueyz is an idiot thinking that 3 medals would cause a country to dominate a medal count.  Also I wouldn't want to live in a country that settles for losing, what is wrong with wanting to win??

  8. One of the criteria for a sport to be in the Olympics is that the sport must be participated in on a large scale, worldwide.

Baseball and Softball are being removed from the Olympics because they simply are not popular in enough countries. Its the same reason that (American) football isn't an Olympic sport. Even though baseball/softball and Football are huge in the USA, they simply aren't popular anywhere else, and therefore they don't meet the criteria to be Olympic sports.

Basketball, is however popular in many countries. Its probably borderline on being popular in enough countries, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it removed someday, but for now, the Olympic committee feels that there are enough countries where basketball is played, for it to qualify.

The removal of baseball and the fact that Basketball is staying, have nothing to do with one country dominating the sport, it has to do with their global popularity.

  9. The first person is wrong

They should keep Baseball only because Softball is a worser verison of baseball because a bunch of girls are in the Softball league.
