They got off to a very slow start, but they are now in the top 20.

They only have 3 gold medals, but they have 17 medals overall, including a silver medal in women's 10m platform diving.

Yes, they're in the top 20. If you look in your local newspaper (in the sports or olympic section) it should tell you their exact ranking.

Canada is 17th in the medal count (considering gold medals) with 3 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze. The Olympics end this Sunday, August 24th.

The IOC does not officially 'Rank' countries. There is no clear-cut widely accepted way to do it. I actually wish they WOULD come up with a system for scoring the Olympics and declaring a country the overall 'winner'. But the IOC doesn't want the games to be about country vs country. They want it to be about athletes v. athletes. So It's doubtful they will ever come up with an official system to score the games. Performance of each country is left up to the interpretation of whoever is looking at the results. Taht's they way they want it to be by design.

Did Canada do better than they expected this year? If so then they won the Olympics in my book. Did Chinese Athletes have there individual best performances in front of a home crowd? Yes? then I say they won the Olympics too.

Wait 2 years for winter games. That's where Canada is a real force!
