  1. Yes, I have ferrets and I love them. Best pets I have ever had.

Threewingedfury pretty much covered anything else I would have said. They are a huge responsibility, be prepared to spend A LOT of money too.

If you or your parents can do that, than they are worth every penny.

Just a little warning: If you get one or a pair, make sure you have spare car keys hidden somewhere up high. One of my boys stole my keys today and I have yet to find them...

  2. Ive had ferrets before and they very cute and sweet pets. They are awesome!

  3. I have five ferrets now and I love them. They aren't the easiest or cheapest pet to keep and care for, but mine have brought a lot of joy to my life.

  4. Yes! I have one, getting another.

  5. Yes, ferrets can be great pets, but you need to do a lot of research first to make sure you're going to be able to handle them. This means financially, and physically.

I'm going to give you all the information I give everyone else - I own 3 ferrets (have had 5 at one time) and its not an easy job - are you willing to devote enough time to letting one out of the cage daily? are you willing to take it to the vet and pay for the problems they develop when they get older (ADV, Aleutians, Insulinoma, which can add up in the thousands in care)? are you willing to clean up lots of smelly poo? yes, most are litter box trained, but they MISS so many times

Ferrets do not need to be left in the cage, they need 3-4 hrs a day of outside time - theres a lot of upkeep involved. You need to change their litter daily - keep their bedding clean (which will get dirty daily) - feed them high quality food, which costs $25 for about 5-7 lbs - have lots of toys to occupy their time with - be able to groom them properly - you sure you're ready to handle it?

Most ferrets are $100-$200 depending on the color, size, breed (there are others, other than Marshalls) - then the cage, you need to get them a decent cage, which is going to run you from $100-$300, then you need ferret litter $15, ferret food $25, bedding, hammocks (approx $30-50), toys $40, vitamins and supplements $20+, grooming accessories $30, vetting $100+ for shots, cleaning supplies, which you will need A LOT

So you're looking at around $500 or more in your first year, if nothing goes wrong that is - I spend thousands on mine yearly for their rabies and distemper shots, regular check ups, and disease checks, not counting their supplies - sure you're up for it?

I'm not trying to make you mad or anything, I'm just telling you straight foward. They are HIGH maintenance pets. They are not like hamsters, thats for sure. I have seen SO many people get rid of ferrets because they get tired of them, dont give them attention, or they cant afford them. I cant stand to see another in a shelter or get put to sleep. Do lots of research and make sure you can afford it, please, for the ferrets!

  6. Ferrets are great pets - provided you are commited for their entire life span, they require a lot of attention and money.  They are well worth the effort.

  7. Ferrets are awesome!

  8. Yes, I would want a ferret!! They can be happy, healthy, great pets as long as they are properly cared for, with lots of time out of the cage, quality ferret food, and an owner that cares about them.

And yes, please do your research! Read a book, (I reccomend "Ferrets for Dummies" by Kim Schilling; it's a very helpful book...) or go to a website with info about ferrets(try http://www.hugawoozel.com/  ).

  9. Go read my response on one of the other 12 posts you made whining about wanting a ferret.  Ferrets are NOT good pets for kids - especially young, immature ones like yourself.

  10. Ferrets are great. They have their own personalities and are very playful. One thing you do have to watch is that they like to take your stuff and hide it. I had five at one time and they were great.
