  1. kenpo is a more rounded style and is much better for practical street wise self defence.

  2. Whichever one has the better teacher near me.

  3. I prefer Chai Latte tea kwon doo...

  4. Kenpo is (let me go out on the limb) better for the street, if you like sport then TKD is more than the place you should be, however do not think that a highly advanced TKD person can't defend himself on the street. My kenpo instructor once said" If the TKD peoples high kicks look great, what do their low kicks look like?" MMA is alright, but just don't get old, it relies on strength and ton's of endurance. Just my opinion, I've never seen anything more impressive than what I've seen in kenpo.

  5. Kenpo is far better. Take Your Do in the US is a joke. In Korea it takes many years to achieve a Black Belt and they still have a vastly limited knowledge of movement and true fighting skills as opposed to a Kenpo practitioner. It's like saying, "What's better, first aid or med school.

  6. Well, that depends on what you are looking for.  For pure self-defense, Kenpo; for tradition, Karate; for fun, TKD.

  7. kenpo karate for me :)***

  8. I have black belts in both, and here is my honest opinion.

In a street fight, my feeling is that Kenpo would be victorious.  It is a more rounded system and it's ferocious hand strikes are both faster and easier than kicks, and potentially more damaging.

But in sparring or competition, TKD seems to have the advantage.  TKD competitors tend to be faster, and have more athleticism.  And their kicks have reach and power.

But in reality, ditch both and do MMA.  I did and I've never looked back.

  9. Definirely Tea Kwon Do.

I am a master of Chamomile style, though I am thinking of studying Earl Grey down the road.

  10. Kenpo Karate for self defense, TKD for sport.

  11. Kenpo no question about it. TKD is good if you just want a quick Black Belt. I have trained in many martial arts and there were some programs that required a black belt to start training. I got my black belt in TKD in 13 months, Kenpo took 7 years and I had to work at the Kenpo.

TKD is good for weightloss and bragging rights. Forget it in a fight.

  12. karate is better, taekwondo it is too easy
