Poll: which is better? Nikon, Canon, or other? and why?

I want to know why. What makes you prefer one over the other?

Nikon, better frame, better and more lenses.....I prefer the quality of the images, especially with the D300 and high ISO (noise issues).

I'm poor so I can't tell you about the fancy SLR stuff.  For low end, it depends on your priorities.  Fujifilm Finepix F series is best for low light.  Pentax Optio and a couple of others are waterproof.  Olympus I've heard has good ultrazooms.  If you want other exotic features (time lapse, high resolution video, stereo sound) you can find those too.

It's all about preferences. Nikon is said to make better lenses and be faster cameras. Canon is said to have better sensors which is great because you can always change the lens but not the sensor.

I personnally use a Panasonic Lumix Dmc-L1 (made with Leica), the very same model Leica released under its own brand, and I love it. It's not that fast, it has its flaws, but I love the retro style of the camera and the kit lens, from Leica, is awesome.

So it's really up to you to check out on your own which brand you prefer. There sure are better brands than others, but when it comes to Canon and Nikon, both are on the same level so you can't really go wrong.
