Pollen allergies making eyes hurt?

is anyone suffering from any of these now in late august? dry, burning, blurry, tired, eyes, tiny flashes seen in dark room, feels like eyes are coated and sticky.

i just started Zyrtek, does it take awhile for it to start kicking in? pollen count for my area is extremely high right now so i thought maybe my eye problems are from the high pollen.

My eyes get really itchy and the eye Dr told me that when I wash my face I could use a gentle soap such as face soap, shampoo or baby shampoo on the side of my first finger and gently scrub my eye lids with my eyes closed and rinse.  This removes bacteria and allergens in your lashes.  There is special eye cleaner in the eye care section of the drug store as well.
