Poltergeist? question

I have been hearing noises at night but been putting it off as the cats. Well this morning I got up to put the dog out (he is crate trained). Last night I could barely sleep from all the noise (at one time I thought someone had broke into the house and was walking around) again I got up and decided it was the cats (deep down I know it wasnt). Anyway when I got up my dog and I walked through the house and everything was fine I opened the door the dog ran out turned around and right next to the couch was a picture of my daughter sitting perfectly up in its frame facing me. My first thought was the cats knocked it off the fireplace, but thats all the way across the room. Plus a table is under it and it seems like it would of broke hitting it and even so how would it fall and land on the other side of the room perfectly straight up. All day today when I sit at the end of the couch where the picture was sitting I smell a almost strong musky smell. Almost a mildewed smell. That I can't place where its coming from. My daughter is nine and when I was a child I went through what was believed to be poltergiest and it was horrifying at times. It lasted for years on and off. If this is what is starting with my daughter what I can do to stop it? Is there anything that you can do?

I wanted to add my husband is in Iraq just left last month so we have been under alot of stress also here. Any advice tips anything will be helpful.

  1. I don't think there is any thing you can do except for asking for a blessing from a priest.

  2. I bet loneliness is most of it.  It's amazing what your mind can come up with.  When your husband gets back I bet everything returns to normal.  Hang in there babe.  The monster leaves office in January.

  3. Go to a church and ask them if they could bless your house.  Our neighbors had to do that before.  We had a poltergiest living with us before but it never caused harm.  It bearly even made itself noticed.  We did have some pretty amazing experiences with it though.  I was to young to remember but my grandmother told me all about it.

  4. Definitely not a poltergeist, as a poltergeist isn't a ghost at all. It is plainly pent up energy that releases itself by causing noises and movement.

Sounds to me like an intelligent ghost. These kinds of ghosts try to interact with people, to be noticed. Smells, often referred to as "phantom scents" can also accompany ghostly activity. Moving stuff around is also reported a lot. If the activity really disturbs you,  you can always just ask the ghost to leave. It sounds simple but I think that there is some universal law that ghosts have to follow and if you don't want them there, they have to go. Just a theory. If that doesn't work, I would call your local paranormal investigation team. Make sure you find somebody professional. They can help you out.

  5. You could just be crazy but I doubt it! Burn some sage throughout your home and ask the spirit to leave. Focus on the love in your heart while doing this. There must be NO negativity while doing this. NEVER get angry with the spirit, it will only empower it. If all else fails, tell the spirit cosmic toker is going to come and get it! I love poltergeists:)

  6. oh, I do want to believe it's a poltergeist but my professional training in counseling and psychology makes me want to tell you something else.  I do think it is stress.  Stress can make you do crazy things.  What was going on in your life when you had those past experiences?  I would not be afraid of what is going on and perhaps speak with a counselor to relieve some stress.  God bless you and your family.
