Polycraft boats, how long do they last in the sun ?

want to buy one as a tender, very practical material ,quiet, stable, non abrassive etc. just concerned about the uv.

  1. I purchased a Walker Bay dinghy  in 1999 and used it as my tender for 5 years.  It was open and exposed to the elements every day during that time and shows no sign of any deterioration.

    I still own and use it, although I am no longer a live-aboard.


  2. get a cover for it the longer it is in the sun the shorter the life of the gel coat. There are spray on protectors out there to prolong the uv damage but if you cover it and use a protectant it will last for years.

  3. Relax, it won't fall apart.
